Questions: |
Answers: |
| How do I make a payment? |
|
| I bought my domain somewhere else. How do I direct
it to the Bear Media servers? |
Now why would you go and do a thing like that?
Oh well, we can make due anyhow. You will need to point your domains
DNS addresses to our servers.
Change them to:
NS1.BEARMEDIA.NET
NS2.BEARMEDIA.NET
If you aren't sure how to make this change contact your domain
registrar for assistance. Good luck with that. Any domain purchased
through Bear Media can be modified here
with the username and password you chose when you registered the
domain. |
| Do you offer webmail so I can check my e-mail from
any online computer? |
Yes, if you have a hosting account with us just
go to www.yourdomain.com/webmail
Substitute yourdomain.com for your web address, or you can also
go here:
Webmail
*Use your entire e-mail address as your username.
We have 3 styles of webmail, Horde, NeoMail, and SquirrelMail.
Each has it's own style and features. Try them and pick the one
that best suits your needs. |
| How do I access my control panel? |
Go here
for the cpanel manual. It has instructions on the features available
in your control panel.
Just go to your website and add /cpanel to the end of the address.
i.e. www.yourdomain.com/cpanel
You will need your username and password. You should have selected
it when you bought your hosting account, or one was provided for
you and e-mailed to you when the account was created. E-mail
us if you can't find it and we'll resend it to you if we can verify
you are authorized to have the information, so be specific about
who you are. |
| Can I have more than one domain for one hosting account? |
Absolutely! We offer unlimited parked domains for
all our hosting packages larger than "Newbie". Just look
for the "parked domain name" icon in your control panel
to add more domains. |
| What can I do about all the junk mail, spam and viruses
I'm receiving? |
With all our hosting accounts we offer spam filtering,
and anti virus filters. These will significantly reduce the amount
of junk mail and viruses you receive. Look for the "SPAM
Assassin" icon in your control panel and enable it if you
want this option turned on.
We highly suggest anyone connected to the internet use a good
antivirus program like AVG
with recently updated virus definitions. Your Virus scanner is
only as good as it's virus definitions so keep them up to date.
New viruses are released every day. |
| Would I be able to change and update my web pages
on a regular basis? |
Bear Media is designed to allow
you to update your page as often as you require. There is no charge
for updating your web site. You have unlimited access via FTP,
using your private id and password, 24-hours a day. As such, you
can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and
upload files to your web site any time you want. |
| What is a domain name? |
A domain name tells people (and the computers they
use) how to find your homepage on the Internet. Each domain name
is assigned to a numerical IP (Internet Protocol) address by your
host provider. Since people remember names better than numbers,
the domain name translates this number into words. i.e. www.yourname.com |
| What are my mail account settings? |
Account name, or User name = your full e-mail address.
i.e. name@yourdomain.com
Incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) addresses are both mail.yourdomain.com,
or you can use mail.bearmedia.net. Replace yourdomain.com with
your own domain name.
Your outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication as seen here

|
| I'm receiving an error when sending mail, but I can
receive fine. |
Try changing your outgoing server (SMTP) port from
25 to 587
In outlook (express) this is found under tools/ mail accounts/
double click your account and then look under the advanced tab
or button. It should look something like this:
